At the present time, our dietitians are a preferred provider with Aetna, Humana, Cigna, MetroPlus, Medicare, HealthFirst, Centerlight, Emblem Health/GHI, Senior Whole Health, United HealthCare, Oxford and Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield.
It is common for Bariatric patients to pay for surgery without insurance and still use insurance to cover nutrition appointments.
Yes. In the event that you carry insurance that we don’t accept, you will need to pay for your counseling session at the time of service. The cost for a nutrition visit for bariatric surgery is $200.00.
If you are using your insurance to pay for bariatric surgery and need a certain amount of visits, we offer a package for 3 visits for $500 dollars.
We accept credit card and Health Saving Account (HSA) cards.
Depends on your insurance. To verify your nutrition coverage for bariatric surgery, please call the 800 number on the back of your card and ask to speak with a representative from member services. Please make sure to verify how many visits are required by your insurance PRIOR to your consultation with the dietitian. We assume no responsibility for the verification of your benefits.
Yes. Our dietitians have extensive counseling experience with patients pre and post surgery.
We see people who are considering weight loss surgery, or already had surgery. All appointments are 1-on-1 and done via telehealth. Generally the first appointment is about 1 hour, and follow up appointments are 30 minutes.
A Registered Dietitian is credentialed to practice Medical Nutrition Therapy. RDs hold a college degree in nutrition, completed a 1200 hour Dietetic Internship, passed a national board exam, became Registered in the US, and Licensed their state. RDs must take 12 hours of continuing education every 2 years to remain licensed.
We are licensed in New York and Florida. Many other states, such as Texas, do allow Dietitians to hold telehealth appointments from out of state. Let us know where you live and we will let you know if we can be your Dietitian.
